Hey all, It's me again ( dont worrie my air ride working fine now. and it's still stock hehe) BUT now I ran a code check on my mark VIII 1998 and got an p1519 code. The car seems to stumble some off the line and also the MPG has went down from 20 to 22 to 15 to 18. I have done the serach on here and really can't find much about this. Most people talk about other codes and not just this one code. What can I do to fix this code. One more thing I just got an super chip power programer and redid my car. Could this have killed me? I got the right one.
thanks Mike T.

RE: p1519 help!!

From what I have read I am guessing the part that is stuck is inside the intake? Man this seems like a big job to fix. Could a person try some carb and choke spray cleaner thru the TB? Maybe that will unstick it?
thanks Mike T

RE: p1519 help!!

I suppose one could try. I would get a can of Seafoam and give it 2 or 3 doses following the instructions on the can before I would tear anything down. Good stuff IMHO. Use a little less than the recommended dosage the first round, the recommended dosage the second round, and a little more than the recommended dosage the third time.

Basically the IMRC is a device used to close off one set of intake ports. There are 2 ports per cylinder and one of each port has a throttle plate on a common hinge that opens and closes via an actuator. On the Gen1 it is closed via a mechanical spring and opened via a vacuum motor controlled by a vacuum solenoid. They are normally closed below 3000 rpms. The Gen2 uses an electrical/mechanical drive instead of a vacuum control.

Since it is electrical, I would look and check for common issues such as a bad corroded ground or a poor connection in a harness connector. Since it is one side only, if it is electrical, it should be easier to find.

I'm not sure how the access is, but the actuators should be at the rear of the intake on each side. It may be possible to remove the actuator and manually see if the shaft and IMRC plates are free.

RE: p1519 help!!

I had the P1519 code on my Mark. Not sure how it fixed itself, but, I purchased a SCT xcal2 flasher from Dennis Reinhart and the tool found the DTC P1519 code. I deleted the DTC, and then flashed the PCM with the new SCT tune from Dennis. Took the Mark for a WOT ride, then came back home and pulled codes. No codes found :) .

I then wanted to make sure the IMRC's were working, and connected the flasher to the Mark, and my laptop computer, to datalog the IMRC's. The datalog confirmed that the IMRC's were working properly. I have not had a problem since.

I would say to use the Seafoam, and put some Lucas upper cylinder lube/fuel injector cleaner in the fuel tank. Then, clear the DTC code, and see if it comes back. You might get lucky and not have to touch anything.
