So when are we going to see an NA 12 second Mark VIII.
[/div]

Had one, I just never made a run in it. It was an easy 12 second car at one point, I just broke it. :(

You will see my 12second n/a car first. Then you will see my brothers low 12 second n/a car. Then if JP will ever buy a set of heads and cams then you might see his 12 second car.

I have offered to sell a set of cams and/or free use of my cam tools and installation help....

You can lead a horse to water, but cannot make them drink... :)

The idea here is to get into the 12s NA without going into the engine. Only simple bolt ons.http://members.tccoa.com/lonnie/06Marktag.jpgwww.blueovalchips.comlonnie@blueovalchips.com95 Lincoln Mark VIII, 287 rwhp 305 rwtq

Good point.

Otherwise, with enough money, someone could build up their 4.6 block to a Rousch Racing spec and make 500+ hp NA.

What is a bolt on? Many argue that an aftermarket intake is NOT a bolt on, while others consider a set of heads and cams to be a bolt on...

If you want to scrutizine, I believe that Eli and I both have the fastest mark VIII's equiped with a mark VIII intake. I think everyone faster than us used a Cobra intake.

My plan is to go FAST n/a. Maybe I should correct my statment saying that I will run 12.6's with the stock shortblock and no gutting of the car. I am just bolting on an oilpump, heads, and cams...

There have already been mark VIII's that ran 12's with a bone stock engine. However the cars were SEVERLY guted.

Who really cares anyhow, it is just an internet list.

Good counterpoint.

I had stock intake manifold, stock headers and exhaust piping and stock torque converter and tranny when I ran 13.8 at 101.3mph with my 95 LSC.

RE: Quickest Lincolns of Distinction

RE: Quickest Lincolns of Distinction

That is pretty good MPH for stock exhaust. I had stock convertor, 3.73's long tube headers, tranny with shift kit, and a ported stock intake.

RE: Quickest Lincolns of Distinction

Well I didn't have stock exhaust, just stock LSC piping. I had two exhaust cutouts after the front cats. With them closed, the car was down 2-3mph which you know is equal to 20-30hp. I had 4.30 gears, with Kooks headers and a 3500 stall converter the car would have easily trapped in the 103-105mph range and ran low 13's. I never got a chance to run drag radials either... just crappy 245-50-16 Daytons.

Thanks to the Smog Nazis of the Republic of CA I wasn't able to run mine with all the bolt ons. I would already be in the 12s if it wasn't for them.

The only thing they did allow me to keep was the Cobra intake. Other than that, I had to install 98 Mark exhaust manifolds with the cats, (they are more restrictive than 95 and earlier), cut my custom 2.5" mandrel bent true dual exhaust and insert a 98 Cobra H pipe with it's 4 cats. Yes 6 cats in all I was required to have. And the H pipe was 1.8" in diameter. CAI had to be removed and the factory air box reinstalled. This had nothing to do with smog and all to do with teaching me a lesson to not show up their so called experts. The car actually put out better emission with all the mods.

There are many places that would have passed the visual for you at least up here (SF Bay Area). As long as your car isn't loping like crazy and can pass the sniffer it's not that hard to find a place to smog you.

RE: Quickest Lincolns of Distinction

Not if you were stopped by the new task force they put out for stopping street racing. They took it way too far and stopped every modified vehicle they saw on the road. Once you make it to the ref station you are in the system for ever. I tried driving up to Orange county and getting it inspected. When I got there the same inspector was waiting for me with a big #### eating grin on his face.

When I was stopped I was coming back from the store and doing 30 in a 35 zone. They asked if it had been smogged lately and it had just been done about 4 months prior. They wrote me a ticket anyways that could only be cleared at the ref station. The ref station had a list of all vehicles that were pulled for suspicion and their orders were to take it off the road. I didn't find this out until after I spent big bucks on fines and de-modded it and then still failed their visual because it didn't have manual trans behind the engine. They switched back and forth on how they wanted to smog it (Cobra engine or Mark engine) just to keep me spinning. I would met all the requirements for one and then they would go oh #### he was able to do this. Then they would switch to the other and I would do it again. Then they would switch inspectors and each inspector would have his own twist. So I gave the state my middle finger and moved.

What sux is that I have 7 Marks and Tbirds in CA that I modified just like mine and they haven't had a single problem getting smogged. But they didn't live in San Diego county.

Nor did they have a PRO-MOD paint job either I suspect.
{no offence intended nor imply'd}

I think your car is kick*ss, but I'm pretty sure the FLAMES disable the factory stock "stealth generator".

I've heard tales about your probs with the SMOGNAZI's but never in such detail, thanks for the insight on WEIRDIFORNIA!

(Scratches it off my list of possible retirement places)

Lonnie...next time I see a tree-hugger standing on a street corner holding a sign that says "burn bean oil, not crude oil"...I'll go home and fire up our 5 mpg '69 Roadrunner 440-6pack and do a few laps around the protester...on your behalf.

RE: Quickest Lincolns of Distinction

I've seen Serg's car run, and can verify the ET's...and yes, he had severe traction issues. This, of course, raises the ET(slower) as well as the mph(wheel speed) so it's a trade off. slower ET, faster MPH...

RE: Quickest Lincolns of Distinction

Hey Craig, I did have big traction issues when the car was running around 14.3's. Once I got the trac-loc and 4.30's in I had no traction issues, at least at Sac Raceway. I was getting back to back 2.0's launching off idle. That's as good as you will get with stock suspension, stock torque converter and street tires.

Driller where is the list at.

It disintegrated in the particle transmitter switching to the new board?!

We're working on some issues.

EDIT: The list is back up as a 'locked' sticky.
