Satelite radio?

RE: Satelite radio?

since i doubt there are any auxilary inputs on the factory town car stereo, then id have to say youre going to have to replace it with an aftermarket stereo sandy.

RE: Satelite radio?

For one thing, I hate the way MP3's sound. Maybe it was from back when i was on napster, and mp3's being traded like STD's, but the sibilance was crap and there was no bottom end. Plus, i don't have the patience to wait on dialup since that's the only internet available where i will live. i can't afford dsl, and sure can't afford starband. no matter how many mp3's you fit even into a cd changer, it's gonna repeat more than XM with the depth of musical tastes i have. I'm always between a few dozen stations usually depending on my mood. from country to big band to rock to classical to special x (weird stuff!) to jazz to techno....to everything!!

I also don't have the capacity to store all these mp3's to begin with. if you love your mp3's, i suggest looking into kenwood's music keg. :)

RE: Satelite radio?

Mp3 is just a way to compress audio. The quality varies depending on bit rate. I can take a CD out of the case, copy it, convert it to mp3, play them both and you will NOT hear the difference.

The problem is that you have normal users creating mp3s with junk software who just don't car about having the BEST quality. Small file size is more important.

I've got one disc full of mp3s in the truck with 150+ high quality mp3s, they're all in folders so it acts like a CD changer. I've got an Oldies, Contemp Jazz, Trad Jazz, Funk, Punk, and a Reggae folder. If I get tired of that, I put in a new disc with just as many songs. Add an mp3 changer and you can cover a lot of tastes...

THAT is a REALLY good Idea !!! But, where would I add an MP3 in the Town Car?

I just added a ten disc MP3 changer using the FM Modulator for $100.
( 10 discs x 250 tunes ea. = A LOT OF MUSIC)

You can put it anywhere you want, since you wouldn't have to change a disc for months.

You can still keep the factory head unit and CD changer if you want.
And best of all, monthly cost = $ 0.00

Oh yeah, one thing I thought was slick besides coming stock with XM, the factory disc player can hold six discs. They all slide into the same slot. I'd like to get something like that for the Mark...

I'll tell 'ya what I think.
I was one of the very very early, primative Cable TV subscribers. Most folks had never heard of it - while I had it ! It was $11.00 a month, and absolutely NO commercials.....A big selling point back then with them.

Today, my monthly bill is $89.00 with tons of commercials, even INFOmercials!

Learning from past experiences, I'll be damned if I will ever begin paying for RADIO! That's like paying to breath! Sirus XM, whatever is not getting 1 cent of mine. I've got in the house an 8-track - a cassette player/maker - a CD player & burner - 5 TVs (2 with cable) a stereo turntable and a cassette in every car, and a CD in the Jeep & a CD changer in the Lincoln. Enough, then we got cell phones that play radio and take pictures >>> HELP !!!

Sandy knows what's going on!! I agree with her and with paul... screw satalite. Seriously... if you want to throw money away get an mp3 player and load the bitch up with 1000 songs... I have a 400$ HU and it doesn't have mp3 capability. Does it matter? NO... Get an IPOD and run that off the AUX connection.
