I am trying to stop my car from pulling timing while racing if I unplug the octane service pin its supposed to lock the car at ten deggrees timing if I do that and run the colder plugs will it help me keep my overall performance throughout the race

I doubt it, mainly because your timing is always supposed to be fluctuating. Best way to do it is to get an SCT chip or equivalent.

The PCM only pulls timing if the knock sensors indicate it needs to do so.

The "octane service pin" generally will decrease timing but I've been told that it is not universally the case in all the Mark VIIIs, depending upon the strategy code.

How do you know it is pulling timing, do you have a computer hooked up to it when racing?

When I am racing as the car heats up the car starts to slow down and its not hot enough to be because of the pistons expanding so I figure its because the cylinders are getting hot and it starts to ping so the car retards itselff therefore not as powerful as when I start the race

And its not a fuel issue I have a ice box set up and it works great and the air coming into the engine comes from my cold air intake that sits in the fender

As the IAT and ECT temps rise, timing will be pulled quicker as well.

What plugs do you run?

I had a Brand new1985 Monte Carlo SS that was in the shop for over a month due to what later was determined to be a fault knock sensor. Based on that experience and the symptoms you described ,which were identical with what I had, I would suggest a check on those.

Again...we are assuming, kinda like with the jumped timing chain.....

Let's diagnose, not assume. That's how you chase your tail.
