stuck oil filter

Well started getting an oil leak, housing gasket I suspect, leaked when cold, but not when warmer and I pulled in the garage. Anyways, started drain cooling, went to pull filter and it was pretty beat up. The dealer had it changed. Would not budge with cap wrench, strap wrench, squeeze wrench.

Did some searching online for suggestions and found.. put a hose clamp near base, tighten, them tap with big screwdriver and hammer. Worked.

Since we all have to deal with this motor, someone else may pick one up that was forced in and probably lost seal integrity, so they tightened it til it stopped leaking.
In 35 years of changing oil, first time I'd seen one that tight.

BTW, this is my 2nd housing gasket (different cars) I've been able to get them without pulling power steering. May be making job more difficult by leaving it, but one less thing.
