The Mid-Atlantic MN12 Summer Blast event (aka The Joel Bender/Brian Klein Memorial Nationals) details from MAMN12.com...

The Date will be August 19-21, 2011.

Thanks to the past attendance and participation of everyone, this will be the 10th Anniversary of my original Summer Blast series! I'm proud of that fact and that we continue to have a great turnout at this event each year. It has grown to be one of the Ultimate MN12 Events in the country.

The preliminary itinerary appears to follow along the same way as in past years.

Friday August 19th, Meet & Greet. TBD
Saturday August 20th, - Mid-Atlantic MN12 Police Escort/catered Picnic/Car show and Car Display Saturday evening.
Sunday August 21st, - Race day and Mason Dixon car show/ Mason Dixon ALL FORD Weekend.

Race/Show event prices on Sunday will of course be dictated by the track.

I'm hoping we can get more sponsorship money this year due to some special awards I'd like to see presented.

So everyone make plans. Further details will be up soon.

Thanks

Edit: Payment Information is as follows for the catered picnic/Car show/Awards: This is pretty much the same as last year. Payments must be received no later than 2 weeks prior so I can make arrangements with the caterer. After that it will be done on a case by case basis as we normally do.

Car & Driver $20
Spouse/Other $13
Children over 7 $6
Under 7 Free

Was that the same order as last year? Sat picnic and Sun racing?

Also are we all staying at the "no burnout" hotel?

Are we staying until Monday? (I forget if we did that last year...)

Yes, pretty much the same as last year except there is no Saturday morning racing. Last year just happened to coincide with a track rental date we invaded. ;)

I am pretty sure the hotel will be the same. I think some stayed until Monday. We dropped off one car and left late Sunday then returned the following weekend to pick it up.

I will post up hotel information and confirmation of other details as they are firmed up over the coming weeks. :)

It is meant to be for both Show and Go type vehicles (Thunderbirds, Cougars and Mark VIIIs), with something for everyone.

Cars are judged and trophies are awarded at Saturday's MAMN12 Car Show at the picnic area.

The All-Ford event at the Mason-Dixon Dragway also has a Ford Car Show with trophies awarded for various classes. Along with the car show, they have bracket racing with trophies to be awarded for each class. (Typically, the T-birds, Cougars and Lincolns compete in their own class.)

Clich HERE for pics from last year's weekend event.

I'm sure this has nothing to do with why I can't seem to remember the salient details of when we did what from last year... :D

Fixed it for ya... LOL. :D

Yes, that was a Kodak moment... one of several.

We had seven Lincoln Mark VIIIs there last year; my '93 and my '96, 'Shermans' convertible, BadSax, Trixie, Rene and M Darrah's. :)

Let's see if we can top that this year!

Here's our deal, Hubby has got to find out if he has a business trip that weekend. I want to go, but I'm having shoulder surgery on July 25, and while I'm cleared to go on the trip, the doc says it may be quite unpleasant (more unpleasant than last year's drive? ). So basically though, trying to prep for surgery with less than 2 weeks and not having internet for 2 days has me behind on everything except sleep.

JP/Joe, maybe call Mike and find out, cause he may need to make the plans too, it's hard for me to type and figure stuff out right now.

We are a maybe. I moved my business trip up a day. It will really depend on how Sharon's shoulder feels. Shee will only be 3 weeks out from the surgery.

I hope she's feeling better by then! :)

It sure would be nice to see you both there.

It hurts bad when her arm gets bumped or jarred suddenly. All hat driving and gettings in/out of the car could be torture.
