Just curious, did you take it out from the top or bottom, and how long did it take?

RE: The motor is out does anyone need pictures ?

He takes it out from the bottom.I'm guessing it took him 5-7 hours.

Whats the skinny on the new engine?

RE: The motor is out does anyone need pictures ?

I took it out the bottom about three and a half hours it was setting on the ground out from under the car. I did not have to evacuate the A/C because I didn"t charge it last time.
I am going to put in a stroker short block and some mildly ported heads. I think I have about a week to build an aluminum oil pan and if my chromer isn't not too busy I am going to get the polished parts plated so I don't have to repolish.

Well, I would like pics of everything you are mentionnig. Thanks in advance.

Keith you should have told me you were going ot make an alum oilpan. I could have sent you a flange to save you a lot of trouble. I have a couple cut out at my house but won't be back in town for another week or so. :O(

I still think you should have gone with a Big Bore instead. Unshrouding those valves some more would have yielded more HP in the end IMO.

Joe:

Could you shoot me a pic of the back of the block (head) where the dip stick tube gets bolted. Looj forward to hearing more results.:9

I took the tranny off today but here is the pic I took yesterday.
It is in the attachments a large and a small Jpeg

Yep, a big bore 5.0 DOHC always makes more power than a 5.0 stroker DOHC, better track times but perhaps the stroker feels better on the street?

RE: The motor is out does anyone need pictures ?

I am sure Keith will not have a problem with power. Esp. now that he has some forged internals....

He will have more torque off the line with the stroker, which will help with the centrifugal charger. I think the BB would have been a hair cheaper and would have yielded more hp in the end. But it is all about the curve, not necessarily high end HP figures...

Keith's biggest problem now is going to be keeping the power to the ground. That is a happy problem though :7

[/div]Hey, I took mine out from the top. In one day. Just got to remember to compress that steering shaft all the way to clear the converter. ;)

ANd yes folks, before you begin, take off the entire wiper assembly and cowl. Makes things MUCH easier (and faster).

RE: The motor is out does anyone need pictures ?

The thing I like about taking the motor out the bottom is that all the bolts are accesable and were designed for easy removal. I don't even remove the drive shaft to take out the engine and tranny. The exaust is the only thing that I take off completly and I may not need to do that I will look harder at that when I reassemble this time. My exaust is easy 4 header bolts and 3 hangers and it slides out in one assembly.

I don't need pics, but I'll look at whatever you post. Good luck on the install Keith!
