Time for something new

Must be nice....

Must be nice....

Wow....I thought for sure I'd be the first to get this done but I've been sitting on my e-cutouts since August waiting to get the right headers and get them installed.

Looks/sounds good Driller, and it must be nice NOT having to find a place for "cats" in that equation, lol. I just got my complete exhaust last friday after spending about 7 hours installing the headers, p/s pump, motor mount and running the wiring for the e-cutouts. Let me tell you....what a difference the headers made! 3" from the headers out the cutouts, and 2 1/2" out the back with some magnaflows on it. I wanted the sleeper sound so I changed out my 3" round style's for some actual street magnaflows because I can go loud by opening the cutouts, but I can't go any quieter, haha.

I'll have to get some sound clips of a drive by with the cutouts open. With my 3200 stall and 4.10's it sounds like a drag car! I highly doubt I have enough power to actually gain anything with the cutouts open, but it sure sounds sweet!

BTW....thanks to everyone that helped me a year ago get my 99 Cobra brake swap done....some of you probably know my car has changed a lot :)

Congrats on joining the cutouts club! :big-grin:

Your pics are better than mine. ;)

I don't think the hi-flow cats really hurt anything except perhaps the tone. Especially if they are 3".

Questions...

Do the cutouts seem to close 100%?
How is your ground clearance?
What material did you use for the subframe connectors and what impact did you notice with them?

Hehe :) I actually think the cats HELP with back pressure because 3" straight out some cutouts with only 4 feet of piping probably isn't enough for my mods. I was mainly just talking about having to find a place for them because of the size and smog constrictions in Cali.

Answers......

Yes, 100%.

What clearance? lol I cut 3.25 coils off the front and 2.75 coils off the back.

I used 1.25 square steel tubing thats 3/16" thick, and the impact was spectacular(as I intended). I also made my own rear subframe brace(I forgot the term...) Here, I'll start another post JUST for you :)

Perhaps my cutouts are not torqued properly? That's the reason the supplier gave me. If I hold the switch they close 100%, but there is a slight bypass with the switch released as if something is in a bind.

Next trip on the ramps or a lift, I'll loosen the bolts and use a torque wrench to tighten them.

LOL, ground clearance? What ground clearance? Evidently speed bumps in CA are not up to WV standards.

That is strange, something is in a bind for sure, while you're under there open them up and make sure the gasket isn't getting pinched, or maybe have someone open and close them and look in there to see whats hitting. You're using a different brand than me and mine are 3" cutouts.

I'm using the DMH Brand(http://www.dmhperformance.com/ecutout.htm) which appear to have a solid rod all the way through and a different style of motor on them. Maybe with heat you're don't close all the way? Who knows.....best bet would be to jack the car up and check it cold and make sure its not a gasket/flange issue.

Exhaust looks really good J... I thought you were gonna go for an x pipe though?

Thanks Serge! :) Where am I going to have room for an X pipe? lol! I went back and had my buddy install an "H" pipe across from each Y pipe before the cutouts to equalize the sound better because it was too "poppy".

Here is the muffs I installed for quietness. :)

Stock springs.....I know I know, they don't have the same stiffness :) but I'm cheap and it was super easy, lol.

Well, the thing is the 96 LSC I bought has the stock height coil coversion. I hate the way it looks, so maybe I can lower it a bit. I am not talking about 3", maybe 1-1.5" at most.

...and I know you're crazy. ;)

Oh, lol! Take 1 or 2 coils off the front, than fine tune it from there. Start at the front, get it the height you want and than do the back.

And yes....I'm crazy!
