Time to replace the Mark.

RE: Time to replace the Mark.

thats a decent price, but i wasnt impressed with the car, the volvo and g35 and Srt-4 where much better ride wise, and power wise. The gto is a heavy car. But the interior was nice.

I was impressed by the car...not to mention the already plentiful afermarket ;)
Anyway good luck to you.

RE: Time to replace the Mark.

I test drove a bunch of cars over the weekend, including the GTO. The GTO is not meant to be or ever was a luxury car. However, I did find the interior to be quite comfortable and nicer then the Cadillac CTS. The performance was great for a car like this but the styling just did not do it for me, it just does not look like a Pontiac. I read that GM has heard this a lot and will be updating the styling for 2005. But then after a test drive in the 2004 vett the GTO just plan sucks. Also the retro SSR pick up is mostly all show with no go, and it is way over priced.

RE: Time to replace the Mark.

Steve-

I agree, the styling has a "just there look" to it. The car is meant to be a sport tourer , not a Vette competitor. Let's keep in mind that you can pick it up for $31.4k, there isn't much out there that can run with that car at that price point. I do look forward to some styling updates and possibly a Judge version.

The SSR is a waste, for 50k there are a ton of vehicles I'd rather be in; not to mention, that interior is horrible.

RE: Time to replace the Mark.

Oh, I know the GTO is not a corvette competitor, the GTO had great performance, it is just that after driving the corvette every thing else sucked performance wise. I sat in a Cadillac XLR, I could not test drive it. It was easier to get in and out of then the the vette, I know it should have good performance. But again for the money the interior could be better. There was also a CTS-V there that looked sweet.

RE: Time to replace the Mark.

performance-wise, how would the 300c stack up against the gto? not sure about the weight between the 2 of them but their power numbers are pretty close.

RE: Time to replace the Mark.

The 300C slightly slower in the quater; very close race.
GTO - 13.8@103.8
300C - 13.9@102

RE: Time to replace the Mark.

strapp i have no idea where you can get a GTO for 31k, in Ny they are 35-38k, I know where i can get a brand new C5 for that much.

RE: Time to replace the Mark.

Petey-

Right here in Chicago. Sorry to hear NYC is overpriced as usual. I know because I almost purchased one two months ago. 4 dealers offered it between $31.4K - $31.6K.
