RE: Old time entertainers...
Just curious..anyone here writing letters to their Senators about that horrid Patriot Act II erroding your freedoms? What's everyone's take on that one? I have read it, and if this was trying to be passed in Canada, I'd be sending 100 letters a day to prevent it...
Yeah, I am. Next up is getting Patriot Act 1 repealed outright. J. Edgar Ashcroft is a bigger enemy to freedom than Osama bin Laden could ever hope to be.
I find it disturbing that our government wants to pry into average Americans' most private affairs, yet they are constantly hiding more and more of their own activities from public scrutiny, all in the name of "national security". I can certainly understand the need for certain things not to be public, but some of the stuff they are hiding cannot be justified. For example, who attended Cheney's energy policy meetings. What does he possibly have to hide? Then you've got Ashcroft issuing memorandums telling his people to stonewall all FOIA requests. This is the most secretive and paranoid administration since Nixon, maybe worse.
Hey, isn't about time we move to a new thread? This one's getting a bit cumbersome.
