Tranny Nightmare

I spent the last two days fighting to get the transmission out of my Black car because of converter shudder and slipping in 2nd. I could have had the complete engine and transmission in less time then it took to remove the transmission. First off it is a pain dropping the gas tank and drive shaft. I only went this route because the fuel pump is starting to act up so while it was down I'd replace it. Who ever worked on the car last and had the transmission out bottomed 3 bolts in the back of the block I broke two off and the third was gauling and stripping threads all the way out. This transmission also has a large boss sticking out behind the EGR tube so it had to be rotated before it would move backwards. All 4 Torque converter bolts were rounded over. This went bad enough I am begining to think I am getting too old to be crawling under cars for two days. It confirmed why I don't do engine removal out the top side.
Boy that felt so good to vent.

I know what you mean Keith. I had a hard time getting mione back out as well. I got my converter installed wrong, and it is being rebuilt. As soon as I get it back my car will be on the road.

Cut that tab down that was in the way before installing, makes it easier not having to wiggle around the EGR tube!!!!
