Transmission is singing

That's a more positive way to put it, rather than whining!

It does not sing in park or neutral.

Above 30 mph, it starts to have an RPM related whine, I mean song.

It also seems to sometimes fall out of gear and I have to play with the throttle a bit to get it back into gear.

I checked the fluid at work, and it doesn't seem to smell burned, and the fluid level seems to be in the right area for the engine temp.

Last trans service that I can recall was the 60k service.

And I'm at around 115k miles.

I just remembered there was something done to the trans a bit later at a dealership, but I don't remember what it was for, or at what mileage. I just remember that the pan was leaking and it had to be taken back to be tightened.

It's kinda high pitched, and it sounds like it's spinning.

Also, the car is much more drivable if I turn off the overdrive. Also it doesn't sing as much with the overdrive off.

Well, it's in the shop now. :(

Went about a mile this morning and then it wouldn't move at the intersection.

We'll see what turns up, other than a big bill.

Be cheaper to get a 98 out of a junkyard....from a Lincoln, Crown Vic, Gran Marquis etc. I got mine for about $325.00....lots cheaper than an overhaul and still have a crappy transmission. I was quoted around 2g's for overhaul!!! WOW!
