OK so I had the transmission rebuilt. In my 1995 mark VIII about 4000 miles ago and since the rebuild its been back to the transmission shop 3 times the first time was. Because I wasn't getting lock up and there was no Manuel first or second gear they changed the mlps. And it solved the problem the next time it would just randomly stick in second and when releasing the throttle while. Driving it would just free wheel it wouldn't slow. Down like if it was in Manuel second they replaced the wiring harness plug on the mlps. They said it was bad that fixed the problem now the car has very firm upshifts and once its warm it won't shift out of first gear I am really getting sick of these problems does any one have any suggestions can the speed sensor cause this? And I'm wondering I heard that when its having electrical faults the computer locks it in second gear is this true? And the last thing while driving at 45 miles per hour if I put the car in neutral it is at 2000 rpms. And as you slow down they start to come back down and once you come to a stop it finally goes back to normal idle is the car supposed to do that? I have no engine codes the car is running great I am not sure were to even start

If they kept removing the power from the battery, there is no telling exactly what it will feel like. It has to go thru a re-learn cycle..... that's something like 3-5 starts, go up thru the gears, get up to hi-way speed for a bit, slow to city speed and stop, then shut off. If it continues to act up after after 3-5 of these cycles, take it back for another rebuild! WARRANTY!!

That's were the car is now back at the transmission shop its under warranty I'm just getting sick of everytime I get it back something. Else goes wrong with it its very aggravating if they don't get it right this time I am taking it somewhere else because this is getting old

I agree, perpetual problems really make you wonder about the integrity of their work.

As far as the neutral driving observations, that may or may not be normal, I can't say I've ever had the reason to go to neutral while cruising at 45 mph. I suspect it may be normal for the engine to run at whatever rpms because of the speed signal from the vss even at neutral. But be aware, putting the vehicle in neutral affects the pump output in the transmission and may cause damage.

OK so I took out my other car and while going 45 if I put it in neutral it goes right back to idle I got my car back from the shop they said they fixed it and I got a block away and it started shifting bad again and then wouldn't shift I parked it got back in it drove it again and it was shifting. Perfect I put it in neutral And the rpm went right to idle so I kept driving and when it started acting up again I put it in neutral and my rpm were around 2000 and wouldn't come back to idle until I came to a stop I now have a enginge code for a tps intermittent fail I have replaced the tps. Twice that's not bad I checked both tps they ohmed out correctly no dead spots so how do I check the wiring on the tps? Thanks

From the manual....

AIS3 VERIFY TP SENSOR IN RANGE

~ Key off.

~ Disconnect PCM. Inspect for damaged or pushed out pins, corrosion, loose wires, etc. Service as necessary.

~ Install breakout box and connect PCM to breakout box.

~ Key on, engine off.

~ Measure the voltage between Test Pin 47 and Test Pin 46 at the breakout box.

~ Slowly move throttle from closed to wide open throttle position and observe the voltage for smooth reading change.

~ Release throttle and allow to return to fully closed position.

~ Is the average TP reading between 0.65 and 1.25 volts at closed throttle position?

Yes
REMOVE breakout box. RECONNECT all components. GO to «AIS4».

No
REMOVE breakout box. RECONNECT all components. REPLACE throttle body or TP sensor as necessary.

OK so I checked the voltage at the Ecu and its not getting the correct readings the tps is good so is it safe to say I have bad wires or is there another check I should be doing first thanks
