Trouble code scanners

Greetings,

Well, my '96 is acting up again, or rather it isn't acting up. It isn't doing much of anything.

So, I was wondering what error code scanners might be better to get, or which ones should I avoid like the plague?

Thanks,

SC

RE: Trouble code scanners

Why buy one if you can get it scanned for free at places like auto zone etc. We even have a small independent parts store in our town who will run a scan for you as he knows most people will then order the parts from him. With scanners running around $150.00 apiece, thats almost a full set of plug wires and spark plugs. Save your money. Just my 2 cents.

And welcome to the LOD, Erik! It's good to see another Mark owner from the Pacific Northwest. :)

RE: Trouble code scanners

I bided my time and got one used (barely) on ebay for $90.00 including shipping. Got the Innova 3100. Seems to work fine, altho I haven't had any reason to use it for troubleshooting yet. I did check out the Mark before I took it in for the Maryland Emmisions check. I was fine for me and passed the inspection ok too. I just don't care to have to run to some store to have it checked when I can do it myself, WHENEVER I want.

RE: Trouble code scanners

Unfortunately Roadboss, the car doesn't want to start, so I would be kind of difficult to get it to any place that I could get a free scan from!
