Which Thermostat?

I am aware that i dont want the 4.6 SOHC that most stores will try to give you. I am looking for examples just to be sure. advance auto parts? oreily? autozone?

I am not even sure i need a tstat replaced, but it's a $10 part, so no big deal.

Last mechanic that tried to use their flushing system said they couldnt push anything through, and they thought it could be the tstat....



i am overheating like crazy, so i am going to try and push an air pocket out, which i am sure i have... and tstat.

It may be a good idea to replace it. Mine failed closed several years ago and caused mild overheating.
I couldn't get one from the local parts houses at that time, so I bought it from the dealer. It was a 188 thermostat as opposed to the original 195 or higher unit. My car that previously ran mid scale now runs 1/4 scale on the temp gauge.

yeah, i have lots of lil things that could be the cause. I didnt want to throw them all out there and ask for help yet, because most could be red herrings of sorts.

I know some people bought them at local part stores, but i cant seem to find one online that looks right...

After some research, I've found that the guys at NAPA know which tstat is the right one. I got my 180 Cobra tstat from them.
