wiring harness

OK I have heard some things about the 96 mark VIII engine harness is it different. Then the prior years. And if. So what's the difference I am wondering if the engine swap I did maybe I got a 1996 engine and that's causing my shifting issue thanks

The biggest difference easily viewable as far as the engine wiring harness is the '96 has IMRC controllers that are different. There is a wire harness that goes to each IMRC. The earlier years had no such wiring as they were vacuum controlled only.

The '96 also has the secondary AIR injection system and associated wiring that the earlier model years did not have.

The '96 has four oxygen sensors while the earlier years had only two.

The VCRM is different but it looks the same.

Actually, there were some late 95 Ford vehicles that were OBD2 AND some early 96 Fords that were OBD1. Rare, but around. Probably not the case here.

When you swapped engines, you should have used your KNOWN GOOD sensors, etc. and installed them on the new(er) engine.

I did use all of my good sensors it never ended up being the harness it was a bad mlps and a dead transmission
