im trying to find the state laws regarding vehicle modification in florida. stuff like laws against strobe lights, exhaust mods, how low can your car be, how dark can your windows be, how loud can your sound system be, and how late can it be that loud. i found a page that told me that there are new laws about this stuff but it will not tell me what the laws are. im sure these laws have to be open to the public somehow somewhere but i can seem to find them. i have been looking for these laws now for about 3-4 hours and cant find anything. i just wan to know how far i can go and still be legal. alot of my buddys get scared when cops get behind them as do i but i want to know if my ride is legal or not so i dont have to worry when they are around.

might anyone have any idea where i could look for this kinda of stuff? for instance some people say strobe lights are legal no matter what color as long as you are parked. while some say red, white, and blue are legal no matter what if a cop sees them. i have a loud exhaust on my car and i want to know how loud it can be and still be legal. i also have a descent sound system in my car and i want to know the laws to it so if the cops roll up i want to know that i am legal so i dont have to worry.

I'm sure strobes are illegal...I'd stay away from them. As far as the sound decibels of your exhaust or stereo, its going to be at the officers descression. If they say its too loud, you have to prove its not...in court...and good luck with that. Its best to either don't be so obvious, or push it to the limit and if you get a ticket, take it like a man. You make your car on the verge of illegal so take responcibility when you get a ticket.

Look for Florida Vehicle Code....maybe you can find something. Our vehicle code book is the California Vehicle Code so I'd think Florida may be the same.

This site seems to have the info you want:

I haven't read thru it, so don't know about Florida. I do know that here, in South Carolina, Volunteer Firemen can use red and white strobes on private vehicles. State Troopers have traditionally used blue and white, although in the past year, they have started using red/blue and white combo.

Speaking of SC State Trooper, here's a picture of one of our marked cars:

are those so the hup caps dont fly off in a high speed run? at first i couldnt figure out what the hell you meant jesse, then i looked at the wheels, that would be my guess, a hub cap could be a pretty dangerous object coming at you at 100+ mph lol!!

LOL, Jesse, had me scratching my head until I saw Jamie's post.

I guess the secret is out, so you can go ahead and put some your car and be the first in your division to have secure hubcaps. LOL, they might even give you a promotion and raise for the safety innovation.

Hahah thats awesome. :) I like confusing you guys, I guess I just have a keen eye for detail, I noticed them right away.

You probably don't even have to go fast to lose those things, you can take a turn at full lock or hit a curb and they'd go flying, hah.

Our cars have different hub caps so we don't need no stinkin zip ties...except the ones we use to handcuff people. :D
