Ill plan on redoing it with the kit and maybe starting with a lower grit. The swirls are still in the side of the housing but a few of them came out. Did notice more of the diamond cracks but those dont bother me

GEN ! 4 pair hdlts.jpgGen 2 and LSC.jpg
Just use the SYLVANIA Headlight Restoration Kit, it cost less than $20 with amazon prime and comes with every thing you need sans some extra gloves, I showed my results above, it works great, just like the video shows. You need an activator to soften the plastic then the UV coating, bot are key for getting good results without all the effort.

If you only have 1 set to do, it's a good idea to get a kit. Many of you know I've done quite a few, and wouldn't be $$ wise to buy kits

I've had some real rough ones, and started with 180,340, and so on.

After you've cleaned your headlights to like new condition here's what I've found to keep them that way: Auto Anything.com.....Light Guards and covers....X-Pel Headlight protection.....49.99 to 79.99. I put them on my wife's 08 Toyota when it was fairly new. The headlight's are as new, absolutely no haze or discoloration to this day......Also put them on my 98 Mark after cleaning and polishing them.....been on about 8 months now.... they're still like new......Maybe a little expensive BUT I don't worry about cleaning my headlights:)

Looks like im gonna be doing the roughest on this. For my DD set im considering having them professionally done at a shop, if they break they said theyll get me some NOS ones but anyway after that they should be easy to maintain.
With the set i used here would anyone be interested in them after i retry? Free as long as you pay shipping and i can give you a few bulbs and a ballast (unsure if they work though)

Gonna have my brother help me on this next attempt since he got the super coupes headlights like new

On a side note i really wish someone would have made new housings like they did on my CV. I got new housings, corners and bulbs for that for $60

Did mine a few months back and noticed the "diamonding" mentioned here. They look ok off but with tbe lights on you notice the haziness. Im looking to having them professionally done. Problem is no one around here wants to take the lense off and the glue that holds the lense on is beginning to delaminate.

I get some "chrome " stuff like Chrome brite bet 9" wide. Although CB which comes only in 3" width will work for the bottoms of gen 2 headlights. You must sand the old chrome off, or it wont stick and stay. I did a pair without sanding, and in the summer it would crinkle up, and in the winter it would lay back down. I use the 9" stuff for gen 1 lights.

I was going to get the 3M clear bra overlay to protect them once installed.
