I had decided to replace the 4.30 rear gears for a set of 4.88s. :eek-large:

Timing was perfect... the Detroit TrueTrac from Eaton had seen it's better days and was on its way out.

I was advised not to run it and either replace it with a spool or a more contemporary Ford Traction-Lok outfitted with carbon clutches. Seems 28 spline spools for the 8.8 differential are like hen's teeth, so we found a used traction-lok differential and ordered new bearings, spider gears and a rebuild kit (hey, if it's good enough for a Shelby, it's good enough for me). :)

Snow-capped mountains!

Is that the result of the recent storm that blew across California?

Also, Driller, that car always looks so great. Can't wait to see it in person again soon.

Driller, wow, 4.88's makes the 2.73's in my Grand Marquis seem very lazy. I know that the DOHC likes the higher ratios, especially once worked over, but 4.88 seems crazy to me.

Sam60, at first I thought it was crazy to see snow in the mojave desert, but I think I have personally seen it before. People don't believe that I am 45 minutes away from a ski area that actually opened this year. You probably got half your usual annual rain fall though, which is around 2 inches, right?

4.30s was all I would want for a street/strip car. I know guys running 5.13s at the track (usually 1/8th mile cars). But yeah, that's a world of difference from 2.73s on the street. Crazy indeed. :p

Rain was forecasted (and happened), so I couldn't use my pellet smoker (too much smoke to do in patio/car port), and moving my gas grill (which is natural gas, plumbed into to house) isn't fun, so used the charcoal grill. I have to get better at it, I can't get the charcoal up to temp and all of it going, and don't know how to control the air. But eventually we ate.

Storage for wood pellets. for 4 bucks for each bucket and lid, seems the best way to go. Water proof (will not store outside and in the sun though), I am not going to have 10 different types of wood on hand, but figure Hickory, Mesquite, Apple, Oak, and a few of the blends. Each one holds about 30 pounds of pellets. Also trying out some different rubs, finding many of them have smoke flavoring, which...isn't needed since I am smoking, so the search continues.

You need more charcoal. Make sure to let it ash over completly before you spread the pile. Plus, those smokey joes only get so hot.

these cars have an electric booster.
if the pump motor isn't running, you won't have power brakes, or rear brakes.

this one had a bad relay.
it has had a bad pump motor in the past.

Unseasonably warm weather here in Minnesota. It was still 55 degrees on the thermometer in the vehicle I was driving today as the sun started to set leaving a warm glow in the sky. Then came along another glow.

In other news, there is a winter storm expected for this Friday that may possibly dump more than 12" on this brown non-wintery looking terrain. It's not over yet. Winter has been very easy on us up here thus far........TOO easy.

We haven't had much winter weather either. I was surprised to see the snow at the ski area, and the 7 inches of ice for fishing, the day before.:)

Going to hit 70 deg again, what happen to winter, the kids only got to play in the snow one day, crazy for Feb. I have so much wood left that I did not burn. 2 years ago I burned about 5 cords, this season I only burned 2/3 of a cord.
