I had decided to replace the 4.30 rear gears for a set of 4.88s. :eek-large:
Timing was perfect... the Detroit TrueTrac from Eaton had seen it's better days and was on its way out.
I was advised not to run it and either replace it with a spool or a more contemporary Ford Traction-Lok outfitted with carbon clutches. Seems 28 spline spools for the 8.8 differential are like hen's teeth, so we found a used traction-lok differential and ordered new bearings, spider gears and a rebuild kit (hey, if it's good enough for a Shelby, it's good enough for me).
