The Ivory KB car

I wanted to get the car stripped down prior to my recent vacation, and get it into the paint shop.
BTW The engine out of this car is destined to give a new life to the well know Gray car :cool-blue:
Nice build, he got the car to the right garage for his plans to happen.

Any chance the engine out of the jinxed grey car will get tore down?
It has me wondering WTH was going on with it.

Me gusta mucho! Excellent work as always!
Thanks man. It's nothing special, plus all this stuff is really not my doing :embarrassed:

I am sorry, but this was really not my intention. All I can tell you is the time you spend complaning about being poor and cold could be used to change that situation :big-grin:

It will be a little while (Joe's decision) before this swap happens, but before the old engine gets scrapped, I'll be sure to take it apart.
Will it show anything, I don't know. Heads would probably have to be "x-rayed" to show issues unless HG is visibly damaged.

Meanwhile, the painters are done. The car is back home, and looking good. I didn't realize ivory could look this good. :smile-purple:

All trim has been painted as well. It makes the engine bay look so smooth, almost old school hot rod like.

Bumper still needs some blacking out, but it won't be installed for while to avoid possible damage :love-it:

Headlights have been cleared as well to match the fresh bumper and grill paint. Still need to touch up silver behind the seal.

Next up is the replacement engine teardown to make it worthy of that shiny engine bay ;)

And you do all of this for FUN? :)
Yup, why would you do something if it's not fun ? lol life is too short for that.

Yeah he pays his bills with monopoly money. :)
lol, yea fun is part of it.
Are you two related ? Jeez, two comedians in the club :tongue-pink:

Love that trim painted, looks good on a ivory car.
Yeah, I wasn't sure how that would look in this color, but it came out awesome.

Now it will only make my actual work more difficult to "fit in" :embarrassed:

Yup, 03-04 Cobras are cast iron blocked.

I do a lot of things for fun, including working with cars/bikes/bicycles (old Schwinns in particular). Working on NORTHERN cars has killed a lot of that 'fun' though, and I don't take in other peoples' cars to restore/mod for fun (ok, maybe one or two for CLOSE friends). You all are crazy (in a touched-in-the-head good natured sort of way :) )

J, are you swapping everything over to an aluminum block engine or are you adding some extra ballast to the nose?

isn't the 03 cobra block cast iron?
That is correct.

... Working on NORTHERN cars has killed a lot of that 'fun' though ....
I don't work on "northern" cars. It just doesn't make sense to spend any kind of money on something that has bad bones. I wish some people would understand that more .... :mad-tilt:

Extra ballast would go in the trunk right ? lol. No, this long block will remain untouched.

Where do you get these motors?

Doug
This particular engine was purchased by the car's owner from a Mustang dismantler here in MI. Unfortunately it got shipped out to PA before it came back here for the swap.

He busts his ass developing connections! something few of us are good at.

I need one of those in my car.
You do, and I have a new one for you sitting on the stand. :cool-blue:

Connections are key

Awesome work as usual, J.

I think what I need is a C-head motor in my car... just without the doohickey that makes a weird whining sound.
