Here's my recent project ... a $800 96 LSC.

I still need to do some vac lines cleanup and loom one of the harnesses. I relocated all the wiring from top of the intake to the back and behind the alternator.
I also need to shave the intake tube to complete the look. It's very basic, and it makes the engine bay look like THIS !

I'll go over the wiring and what else is needed later today or tomorrow if there's interest.

Slick!

I thought of this last year at Carlisle! But I figured it to be more of a pain than benefit.

Looks great though! Well' see how long those coils last. :wink2-green

I had all the parts to do this so it was a no brainer. Instead of spending $100 on new wires, I used up few of the new take off coils I accumulated over the years. I don't think there is gonna be an issue, as long as you keep the moisture out of there and the boots are in good shape. It is actually a 98 motor ... long live the CE ! LOL

Looking good, I can't wait to do mine Jeremi. Any tips? The wiring seems pretty basic but help is always appreciated.

I'll do a write up soon.

I didn't pick up my neochrome stuff yet. Hopefully it will be ready next week as I need to put the CE together.

This ought to save you some time Jeremi...this is the info I saved when you were helping me with the 03 Cobra motor! That engine bay looks sweet dude, good job! :)

(As per Jeremi)
This is simpler that you think. You don't need to swap any control modules.
I am going to assume you are re-using your 96 harness and just spliting several connectors from the 03 harness.

Find the trigger signals for the coil pairs at the old coil packs (should be 1-6, 3-5, 4-7, 2-8).
Also locate a +12v power supply at the same location (there will be two but you can do with just one).
Now you will do this in pairs.
First run +12v to coil 1 (+) terminal.
Then run a wire from coil 1 (-) terminal to coil 6 (+) terminal.
Finally run a wire from coil 6 (-) terminal to trigger one you found earlier that corresponds to coils 1&6.

Repeat this for the remaining pairs (3-5, 4-7, 2-8).
Keep using the same +12v source or use one for each bank.
I don't have the wire colors but any 1st gen manual will have these.

I notice a new power steering pump resevoir, did you have to buy a Gen 2 bracket assembly or something to "delete" the Gen 1 alluminum bracket setup?

Haha, I didn't know somebody actually gave a damn ... good save !

I did things slightly different. Same principle though.

It's a gen2 PS bracket, came with the motor (out of the CE).

... oh and the reservoir is not new, it's just clean :big-grin:

Ofcourse I gave a damn I was putting a completely different engine in my car, haha. I wanted to do it right and keep it clean!

Oh.....sorry didn't put two and two together, lol. Was the motor bad in the LSC and thats why you changed it?

Nope, the motor run fine but had more miles than the CE engine. Oil pan was leaking and other stuff was rough.

Who knows maybe the CE will go back to stock one day LOL.

Lol....so much work but you probably got it down :)

Any pictures or info on the CE project or did I miss a post somewhere? Or are you keeping it on the DL?

You didn't miss nothing, it's just a cordovan shell really ... empty engine bay, no wheels, no exhaust, etc ...

I am hoping to put it together in the next couple of weeks though.

It's actually a DSDL LOL !

Oh ok...you keep changing your signature so I never know what you have done.

DSDL? My DL was on the "down low". WTF is yours, lol!

Think "National Lampoon's Animal House". All my projects are on it.

It's actually funny. I bought this car for parts. I ended up throwing all my spare parts on it.

Looks great Jeremi!

It's supposed to be nice tomorrow. How about letting me take it for a spin?

Looks like you're Mad 1st Gen again.:D

Jeremi any reason why you didn't decide to put those Steeda pulleys on your 96?

This car will remain stock due to possible local sale later this year.

Also, I am not a big an of small gains like that from underdrives.

If you're gonna mod the car, go all the way !

Did you get them on yet ?

Did you ever find the source of the ticking on the old motor?

Oh yeah, was the six (or was it seven...or eight?) layers of JB weld and engine paint still covering that hole in the oil pan?

Either way, glad to see you've turned it into something, that car was destined for the scrapper if not for you man.

I dug up some more pics from "back in the day"... when she got the car. It had 129k on it then, and its got what, 140k on it now? So only 11k were put on it in her possession, unfortunately some of those were in my brothers possession.

(this was the first JB weldup on the pan, done by my dad, it didnt hold up for long, and I went at it and put at least 6 layers on that thing along with a few layers of engine paint!)

The car was bought from an elderly couple, the car was actually owned by their son, who drove it regularly (maybe even daily) from Temperance, MI to Chicago. These people lived on a dirt road, so I doubt that helped the cars rust at all, like that oil pan.

Except for the pigsty your bro left inside, I don't think he did too much damage ;)

All the rusted areas are taken care off, the car is actually pretty solid.

The oil pan was still leaking, it now has a new one. The trans leak was from the dipstick o-ring ... that's taken care of now as well.

The engine tick was actually a vac leak in the top part of the manifold.
