98 Mark SC Build

Thanks, JP. AFAIK, Steve Bradshaw, the transmission builder, put the cooler kit together. Steve and Aric are good friends, and Steve did the cooler install at Aric's shop after the IC was installed. I think you can buy the kit through Aric. I will ask him if he sells just the SS lines and fittings, and let you know.

Something like this would help spruce up the engine a bit. :D 96-98 Cobra

$500 for a bling piece with 1 hp gain. Yeah Mike Get It !!!!

The inlet on that 2nd gen intake would have to be chopped to make this fit anyway. Waste of time IMO.

Lol...it was just a suggestion Jeremi...gosh! Plus they are only $395(96-98cobra) :D The 03-04 Cobra ones flow 500 more CFM and are $595.

On the Sean Hyland site.....

"Flows almost 1700 cfm, vs 1089 for the stock throttle body. New inlet casting straightens the path for airflow. Gain up to 25 hp 6400 rpm. Powder coated casting, polished billet throttle body."

On the RPM Outlet site......

"We have tested this throttle body with amazing results. Accufab boasts 25 HP & 19 Ft. lbs. of Torque at the rear wheels. We tested it ourselves; we came up with 22 HP and 26Ft. lbs. of Torque. But it feels more like 50 HP. This is probably one of the easiest and largest seat of the pants performance gains you can do to your cobra. Installation time is less than 30 minuets with very basic hand tools."

With the VERY customized setup that he has, nobody out there would have relevant test results for that throttle body. He would either have to do some before-and-after dyno runs, or his builder would have to be certain that the TB is the bottleneck in his system. If not, he'll get 1 hp just like Jeremi said.

Obviously.....but if you're forcing air into something(where you're sucking on the 03/04 Cobras) common sense would be that its a bottle neck.

Like I said....it was only a suggestion in the form of a question, just as a TON of suggestions were addressed throughout this entire thread.

Plus if you look at the CFM numbers, thats a HUGE difference, and the 96-98 Cobra TB is for a NA motor....

I'll bet money on the fact that if Mike were to dyno his 400rwhp ~ 12 psi car with that throttle body, he wouldn't gain 10-15hp at the tire.

lol, J. The Mark has more than enough bling as it is. :)

Keep in mind, I do not want this thing to blow-up after a couple runs at the track. I have to entrust Aric to use his tuning skills to deliver what I know will be a safe tune, regardless of what the numbers are, and what my goal for the build is. It is... What it is... :)

On another note... JP, I talked to Ryan today about your interest in the transmission lines and fittings. He asked that you either call him, or send him a email for more details.

Ryan's phone number is: 678-449-6871, or email: injected@bellsouth.net

From what I understand, the transmission cooler in the kit - the one used in my car, is a plate type Ford unit that is bigger and better than most of the tube type aftermarket ones.

Thanks again, everyone, for your input. I appreciate it!

Congrats on finally getting this thing on the road!! Now get that better camera of yours and take it to the dyno shop and snap some pics of the read-outs :D

Went to the dyno last night :) Here is the video of the last two pulls and the dyno sheet.

Aric is going to go ahead and install a Vortech mini race blow off valve to help smooth the idle pulse, and put his boost gauge on it to see what psi it is running at. He still wants to look into a couple things yet, so this is an excellent starting point, or finish point for that matter - since I am already happy with it the way it is.

The weather was nasty yesterday for a tune - hot, and raining, but the intercooler did it's job keeping the air temp only 8 degrees above what the Mark's outside temp gauge showed.

On the down side... I have major traction issues now :)

How come there is no boost datalogger on the dyno ? I would suspect you're running less boost that without intercooler due to intercooler and piping pressure loss.

WHat pulley is on there right now ? 3.46 ?

Jeremi, The boost and pulley are some of the things Aric is looking into, and I have no idea what size pulley is on there now. Aric was datalogging stuff, but I do not know about the dyno boost datalogger. I do not have a onboard boost gauge on the Mark, and Aric had left his at the shop.

Max, IMHO, I think that the gen 2 intake is the cause for low tq numbers. Burbank 98 LSC posted only 314tq with his gen 2 intake and forged bottom end. Thomas A posted 338tq with his Cobra intake and stock bottom end.

Jeremi had mentioned Lidio got 350rwhp from the same basic blower set-up that Thomas has. Guess you just can't cookie cut these cars and expect the same results. :)

Why are the torque #s so low?

Welcome to the Vortech superchargers. Low TQ was my only issue with them.

You would see another 100ft/lb with a positive displacement blower and same boost HP level.

Mike, IMO number look normal for this setup. You can't expect 200 rwhp out of a 10-12 psi blower on a stock block.

IRS and Auto trans is very pwr hungry.

I agree Jeremi. It is... What it is... :) Aric is very serious and super critical about this kind of stuff, and he wants to make sure everything is the way it should be. I will not get the car back until he is satisfied with it. I have never had customer service like that before. I am already happy with everything :)

Here are some pictures of the dyno tune.
