98 Mark SC Build

W O W !!! :) The intercooler and intake plumbing is all done, and it looks incredible! I just returned from Aric's shop checking everything out, and the work being done to my car is unbelievable. He needs to button a few things up, and it is time to bring the beast to life.

We have a casualty for the time being - the washer fluid bottle was sacrificed for some IC plumbing space, but... good news is... the air ride lives to see another day :)

Now would be the time that I would post 25 detailed pictures of all this beautiful IC and intake plumbing, but, I want to give Aric the opportunity to protect his intellectual property. Depending on what he decides to do, I will post pictures with his permission only.

I know this sounds really crazy to some of you, but there are alot of individuals and companies out there that try to capitalize on the work of others.

Next on the hit list will be the brakes, rims, and tires. Ryan is getting all the stuff on order asap.

I told Aric that I will be driving the Mark to Jeremi's Detroit Mega Mark Meet in August, and he said no problem, I should be good to go :)

Here is a pic I will post of the Mark rolling off Aric's awesome trailer...

VERY good idea, you're 100% right. Phreakness had this exact thing happen and he even had to get lawyers........

I guess there is gonna be a lot of "Whinning" at this get together. Would some onr please pass the cheese to go with the "Wine" Nice follow up Mike.

Looks great Mike.

Ask Jeremi about the washer bottle location.

He's got some tricks up his sleeve.:D

Thanks, Guys. :) I am stoked now. The Mark is coming together, and Aric is still talking to me even though I batter him with questions, and discuss all of the great ideas I get from my Mark VIII buddies, and stuff I read on the web. :)

J, I have a hard enough time getting my attorney to finish up a bunch of legal mumbo jumbo for me now. It is horrible that I have to even bring this crap up, as if anyone who really knows me, will know this is not how I live my life.

A hand shake and my word is how I roll. :) Ironically, my line of work is very structured, and deals with contracts and legal type stuff all day long.

Charles, I am really looking forward to meeting you, and seeing your awesome Mark. I will bring some whine, cheese, AND some Capt Morgan to Jeremi's. I can make some really good rum drinks.

Bill, I think Aric tried Jeremi's spot where the AIR pump use to be, but I believe there is a pipe there now. Is there another spot? Oh Jeremi... :)

Car is shaping up real nicely, Mike... can't wait to see the finished product. Have you decided how much boost you will be running yet?

Thanks, Serg. I am anxious to see the Mark run too. I have no idea how much boost will be needed to get to the desired 400+rwhp, since I do not know of anyone running a Vortech with a air to air intercooler in a Mark VIII to compare to.

I would think it will be in the 10-12 psi range, but that is only a guess. We will know for sure real soon. :)

OK, Aric has given me the green light to show pictures of the IC plumbing :) He is now polishing all the pipe, and plans to fire the beast up this week

Notice the cool blow through style MAF set-up :)

BTW, Any of you Vortech/centrifigal blower guys want to know more about this "bolt on - with minor alterations" MAF and IC set-up, Aric might be able to make one for your Mark too. You can call Aric Carrion at Injected Engineering: 678.449.6871, or email: aric@injectedengineering.com

Ahg....that does NOT look fun to work on anymore. No space at all, haha.

Looks like it will be FUN to drive though! :)

Wow, looks like nice work! How many feet of pipe is there? This is probably on the first 15 pages, but are you leaving the motor stock? Planning on going to a cobra manifold? Anyway, very cool.

Thanks Guys. As far as working on the car goes, Aric is the head wrench now, and will service it bumper to bumper for me, J.

I have no idea how much pipe was used, but it just travels the width of the car twice including the IC.

The goal is to make 400 - 450 rwhp with a stock motor using all bolt-on stuff.

No line lock yet. I need to talk to Aric about that. My launching style is still being worked on. :)

The beauty of this set-up is that I can either move it all into another Mark VIII, or most of it into a Mustang if I wish.

The blower set-up will also handle much more power than what the stock bottom end can handle, so there is room to grow if needed :)

Mike, just a word about this connection to the blower...

I have seen it be a bear to keep clamped on.

Looks good. Why didn't he go through the battery area with the intercooler tubing instead of underneath the car? If the bumper fits it looks like it will be barely!!!

I don't think you there is any way you will make over 400rwhp with the stock intake, cams, and heads. If you have a stock tranny that will die too if you are 350+ rwhp.

Do you really think the stock rods and pistons will hold up to 400-450 rwhp? I think it's time for a forged motor! =)

Thanks for the heads-up JP. I will ask Aric how he intends to fasten the elbow down.

Thanks, Joe. I had a fit about the battery being in the trunk. That is why Aric ran the tubing the way he did, and the battery is in the stock location. I hope the covers will fit too.

As far as how much power this thing will make with stock intake, cams, and heads - we will see for sure in the next couple weeks :)

I will be happy with anything 400rwhp and up for the track, and another tune in the 300+rwhp range for daily driving, with both tunes loaded to the xcal2.

The transmission has been built to handle 500+rwhp.

I have talked to many engine builders regarding what the stock bottom end can handle, and they all say I will be fine if I keep it in the 400-450rwhp range.

If I blow it up - then, I will forge the bottom end and turn the boost way up :)
