Coolant suggestions

Ever heard of water wetter?

absolutely, it's what is called a "surfactant"... it works well, but does not have any lubrication or anti corrosion properties.

water wetter is good stuff, but IMHO it's a little expensive considering it's "merely soap"...dontcha think?

Old Roundy Round Dirt Car trick:
Add 1-2 drops of ivory dishwashing liquid for every gallon of coolant.
Do not use the "if a little is good, more is better" mind set.

1-2 drops per gallon MAXIMUM any more an you will generate foam in your cooling system.

umm? Water Wetter® Super Coolant

WaterWetter® is a unique wetting agent for cooling systems which reduces coolant temperatures by as much as 30ºF. This liquid product can be used to provide rust and corrosion protection in plain water for racing engines, which provides much better heat transfer properties than glycol-based antifreeze. Or it can be added to new or used antifreeze to improve the heat transfer of ethylene and propylene glycol systems. Designed for modern aluminum, cast iron, copper, brass and bronze systems.

· Doubles the wetting ability of water
· Improves heat transfer
· Reduces cylinder head temperatures
· May allow more spark advance for increased torque
· Reduces rust, corrosion and electrolysis of all metals
· Provides long term corrosion protection
· Cleans and lubricates water pump seals
· Prevents foaming
· Reduces cavitation corrosion
· Complexes with hard water to reduce scale

and cheerio's advertises that eating them reduces your chloresterol too!

advertising hype...plain and simple.

Water Wetter is SOAP.

take one of those cute little pink crystals and touch your tounge to it...then get back to me...M'kay?

I wonder why they say that? Is this their discreet way of saying its not for DD use but its good enough for a racing engine which is going to be serviced very often?

yea surfactants in your cooling system isn't a "fire and forget" kinda deal.

typically you would change it.. ATLEAST once a year or sooner

They say that because antifreeze contains the chemicals that prevent corrosion and rust. Racers like to use plain water because it cools better than coolant. So the addition of Water Wetter provides the missing fluids that prevent corrosion.

Abe was implying that its ok to use in his car instead of the recommended coolant. In the right application (a racing engine) i'm sure it does it's job well. But, when it comes to a DD Mark VIII with a standard engine, i remain skeptical.

My daily driving temps were reduced by about 15 degrees ("A" to "L"), so yes, it does work.

I run 85% water, with two bottles of Water Wetter. 180 tstat, stock pump and radiator.

The 3000 stall converter really heats the engine up in traffic. With the AC on and ~100 outside, I can get the temp up to the "O".

I will be switching to Evans coolant when money and time permit.

Take a load off by putting the tranny on a separate cooler - it helped mine.

I think I'll swap to the Evans coolant when I put in the Cobra radiator.

It is...the tranny cooler is about half the size of the radiator. Barely got it to fit. It did indeed help my engine temps, but I can still get it up there in extreme conditions. (several times a year)

same here when it gets colder - im running all water and the wetter, with 160 T stat with my chip setup for it. my temps dont go above L. It recommonds to run 15 percent coolant for DD... but I don't drive like a vagine
