The red line is Irene's forecasted path, the green circle is where I live!

well i'm working through it, lucky me, I hear we may not get off work until monday. We are going to the Rockaways to enforce the mandatory evacuation.

that is a lot of OT

Thats what I'm talking about

I lived at the top of your map there, in Old Bridge. Basically Rt. 34 and Rt 9 split, the Central Park Subdivision, from 1967 to 1986.

With a Cat 1 you'll be fine. Interesting but fine.

the GSP is shut down south bound from exit 98, not the wind so much as the rain fall and the surge, hopefully you have some elevation to you home

So get this. I hate best buy but I had to drive my wife to work because macys does not close and there is a BB right there. So I order a cheap OTA digital antenna online so i don't have to deal with anyone there just in case the cable goes out but I still have power.

So as I leave the douche rocket at the door who checks your receipt tells me it wont work that I need a converter box. I say my TV has a digital tuner built in, he goes no it wont work you need the converter box, I repeat my self and then give him a look and walk out.

Well it worked just fine pulling in the HDTV digital OTA signals.

yea, but that is big bucks for more mods

Category is ONLY THE WINDS!!!! This storm is SO LARGE that the problems is NOT the winds! It's the constant 50-60MPH winds for 10-15 hours and the large amounts of water coming out of the sky! Our ground has already be saturated because of previous storms and with this 12 and more hours of rain coming we are experiencing trees being uprooted and be deposited into apt building and cars and houses! Of course they also take power lines too. Power company has called all it's customers and told them to prepare to be without power for up to a week!

So don't go poo-pooing a Cat 1 storm! This thing is already going from Canada to South Carolina!

Yeah I watch the Weather Channel a lot, I learned a lot from them. Plus I already knew about the saturated ground.

Wasn't making light of the situation, it's serious stuff there. Like I indicated earlier I went through Belle and Gloria and both were not fun.

Steve, I those Best Buy guys are terrible. rather than argue, I just say. "oh.. yeah. I've already got one."

The guys at the local one claimed they could recover images from a camera memory card that had passed through a dog's digestive system. (!!) Even though the actual chip, was clearly, and obviously missing.

Sorry man, those baby photos are gone. I don't care what Best Buy says.. :)

Well, up here in Western MA, its starting to rain, on and off, heavily. Tomorrow is when were expecting it to pass through. Hopefully, and most likely, at that point we will be looking at heavy winds and rain. In the neighboring city, they've started to erect the dikes earlier this afternoon. They say were looking at 2 inches per hour all day tomorrow. Thinking about bringing the car to the parking garage in the next town over and leaving her there until Sunday night just to be on the safe side. I took a ride through that garage a few hours ago, and it looks like quite a few people are having the same thought.

I've heard predictions in the 15-20" of rain...

andy, if you are gonna bring it to northampton and leave it in a parking garage you may want to do that soon before it gets packed. or just bring it up to harvest valley or the log cabin on Mt.Tom and park it in the parking lot there thats a safe place too. or park it at the oxbow boat ramp lmao!!!!!!

Shutting down my PC before any power surges/outages. Hope everyone stays safe though the night into tomorrow. Being 800+ feet up I'm really only worried about downed trees and power outages here.

Good night!

wind and rain picking up here now, one small tree branch down in my yard that i can see, hope no big trees will come down on the house.

Yea, that's an awesome idea! Its in Charlies garage until tomorrow night, so it should be good.

On the way back from their house to mine, (across town) there was wicked heavy rain, couldn't see the road. This isn't even the worst part of the storm. Not looking forward to what tomorrow brings.

oh if you have it in charlies garage i wouldnt worry about then, there is no water around line street thats gonna flood his backyard it should be safe there. its kind of funny when we told everyone up there we were moving to florida, all i heard was oh you will regret that, the hurricanes all the time, the heat, its such a bad place to live so much damage all the time. i have been here since 03 and have yet to see a hurricane, the closest we came was the one a few years ago that was supposed to make land fall here but turned in to port charlotte/ft meyers area instead, we got some awesome wind and rain and thunder, knocked out power for about 30 hours thats it, yet you guys up north have tornadoes, earth quakes and now hurricanes, you have seen more trouble in the north in the last 6 months than i have in the last 8 years in florida!!! bad things can happen anywhere, anytime so many people make florida sound like the deadliest state to live in, far from it!!

It's bizarre being in the eye of the storm! All of a sudden, it got quite and still.
