rebuilt JMOD woes in 1994 Gen 1

The transmission shop finally got my JMOD 1998 era tranny complete and in my 1994. When roadtesting, it ran like a rapped ape right up unitl the RPM gauge stopped working and everything went to hell in a hand bsket. Does this problem sound familar to anyone. Would it be something as simple as bad connections on the transmission electrical wiring or does some other evil gremlin lurk in the shadows. This car has sat for at least a year before I got it and all I ever driove it was up onto a trailer and around the block when I got it home to determine the old treansmission was junk.

No tach signal?

Have the car checked for codes. Or check yourself, look HERE.

From the manual...

Electronic Ignition (EI):

The electronic ignition consists of a crankshaft position sensor (CKP sensor) (6C315), ignition control module (ICM) (12K072), two four tower ignition coils (12029) and the powertrain control module. The ignition control module operates by sending crankshaft position information from the crankshaft position sensor to the ignition control module. The ignition control module generates a profile ignition pickup (PIP) signal (engine rpm) and sends it to the powertrain control module.

Transmission Function: Uses PIP signal in the transmission strategy. Wide-open throttle (WOT) shift control, torque converter clutch control and EPC pressure.

Symptoms: Harsh engagements and shifts, late WOT shift, no torque converter clutch engagement.

DTCs: 211, 212, 214 through 217, 232, 238, 241

Did the transmission shop re-pin the trans wiring harness so the 98 trans will work in your 94?

Also did they use the TCC solenoid and MLPS from your 94?

These need to be done for the 98 trans to work properly in a 94 Mark.

okay...I passed on the descrtiption requirements ti the mechanic and he is going to reroad test the vehicle taking careful notes on what happens. I thought there might be some connection between the lack of rpm and lack of performance. Thank-you for you more knowledge request. It seems my analogies didn't have quite the descriptive effect I was looking for. The shifting went all out of synch would be a better way to put it. We dids use tyhe original vaLVE BODY so there shouldn't be any issues there that would adversely affect the EEC. I thought the operating system of all mark VIII's was the same (1993-19987) being star II OBD I so it wouldn't matter even if I had used the later type valve body

Just to let everyone know, the problem was just corroded connections on the transmission harness. A restart of the EEC fixed the problem. Thanks again for all the advice.
