No kits used. The trim ring is the modified Kenwood trim piece you being too big in one of the pictures.

There is no need for any special kits. Waste of money, plus they look like crap IMO.

I did a little more work on this car. Every single ball joint was worn out. Upper and lower control arms replaced with TRW/MOOG parts, and OEM strut rod bushings.
Also, I installed a large inline trans cooler to protect the TC/trans investment using adapters and barb fittings at the radiator cooler lines.

Small list of stuff to do, and the car should be enroute to Mike soon.

I did some extra work on this car, and it's getting to me. It seems almost everything is just correcting other people's work. That alarm just won't go away.

Both L&R window channels were broken off causing the glass to rattle when down.
So I pull the door panels, and of course the numb-nuts who wired that alarm, run the wire for the trunk release directly to the switch on the panel. Nothing soldered, so it all came apart. So I trace the wire down, and it's run outside the door harness boot, with boot just pushed in allowing water into the door. Gravy.

All repaired now, but damn ... enough already.

Agreed. He gave my car the same treatment in 2010. None of the wiring problems like yours but major issues with rust and a front suspension that was falling apart. He tried to tell me to get rid of it and get another but I stubbornly refused. I probably should have listened but too late now. ;)

That explains why your car is so nice ;)

Yeah I asked him not to post any "before" or even in-progress pics of it because I was so ashamed of it. It really was a train wreck.
Well I wouldn't be ashamed of saving another Mark. Mine is pretty rough too overall and I think I overpaid for it but I'm hooked now and going to return her to her former glory :D
