The Ivory KB car

He has probably built so many of these cars that he can tell which fastener it is blindfolded. That gives me an idea for a drinking game at future meets.

Nothing like having good looking fasteners to finish out the job! Nice work, as usual.
Charlie, the place you pointed me to has changed owners several times in the last few years, but still kicks azz when it comes to cad. Thank you !

Now I'm naturally curious... since the hardware is not 'bagged and tagged', do you know by memory what goes where? Or do you have a cheat sheet on the lengths, etc...
It's pretty sad, but I actually do know what goes where. It's probably one of the reasons I also don't sleep well at night :embarrassed:

That sounds about right. But when drinking is involved, all bets are off. :love-it:

The bets aren't off, they just change to drinks instead of money. :p

I hope I can see this car before it leaves your possession. The work looks like what I would expect out of you; awesome.

After some delays it's time to put this thing together. All engine cover parts and associated brackets are powdercoated.
For some reason my garage lightning makes it look black :rolleyes-green:. The close up of the oil pan to show the actual color. It's very rootbeer like.

Coated and baked manifolds, as well as previously polished and clear coated valve covers.

New seals throughout, cleaned up and painted (always rusty) harmonic balancer. The engine finally sealed :smile-purple:

Absolutely Stellar! I've been looking thru as many build threads of yours that I can find J!!

Makes me seriously consider dragging my Mark home from my buddy's house as a roller and spend all winter painting/plating/powdercoating/rustproofing EVERYTHING!

Maybe in a year or so though... my '88 Mustang is currently getting the 100% redo at the moment on the rotisserie...

Another fruitful day yesterday ;)

Manifolds (for the header police ;)), and cad matched motor mounts installed. Also, the FRPP coolant adapter to facilitate the oil filter relocation. 2" water outlet and 10AN oil fittings.

IMG_00000898.jpg IMG_00000899.jpg

The lower intake manifold cleaned up, installed with new gaskets, torqued down. And it's finally time to start working on this behemoth of a blower :err-what?:

Intercooler ready to be installed. It actually seals with silicone to the blower from the factory, thread locker on the pesky little bolts that like to come out sometimes without warning.

Intercooler manifold installed with new o-ringed Ford gasket along with crossover tube, all matching the "theme" :roll_over:.

IMG_00000906.jpg IMG_00000907.jpg

Auxiliary idler bracket and pulley in place of typical 4.6 alternator. Baby steps. :embarrassed:

This, is a thing of beauty.

Thanks for all the detail, too. I particularly appreciate you placing all of the right keywords to make these easy to find in a search. (sizes for the filter relocation adapter lines, for example.)

Nice work, J (as always)

Blower finally on top of the engine where it belongs. Heavy SOB :err-what?: I don't know how people do this with the engine in the car, leaning over the fenders. :roll_over:

More front bracketry, and Moroso PS tank coated to match.

IMG_00000911.jpg IMG_00000912.jpg

5/8 FORE fuel rails installed as well, with 60lb Siemens injectors. This should make the power goal a little easier to reach.

Finally, the COP covers. All of a sudden this project took a turn from vanilla (or ivory :smile-purple:) to plain badazz.

IMG_00000913.jpg IMG_00000916.jpg

Now it's easy to see why the engine bay HAD to be painted fully in order to showcase this beast. Definite props to the owner for the component choices.

IMG_00000919.jpg IMG_00000917.jpg

I also tried to capture the actual powder coat apperance but the phone camera fails yet again in this light. I might have to roll this thing outside :roll_over:

Outstanding work!!

I'm looking forward to the finished product. I'm in the process of a teksid build with flat tops and an 03 blower (for now). The goal is to install a TVS towards the end of next year and see what she'll do.

This KB build, however, may change my mind!!

Where in Florida are you??

Jeremi, you are truely a master.
The motor looks better that I could have dreamed.

I went back and forth on the use of Kooks long tube headers but decided to take Kenne Bell's advice since they have done extensive testing on the 03-04 Cobra motor:
CAT BACK EXHAUST, HEADERS, X-PIPE
We don't care what the magazines and others say. Our tests indicate minimal HP gains with the cat back below 600 whp and and about 10whp with the x-pipe at 600 whp, headers are about 5whp at 600 whp.
I decided to save the $900 for 5whp.
I am in PA, I picked up the Mark when I was on vacation in FL.

The KB is a 2.6H.
"H Series - Big Bore (+15 psi) Twin Screws, less parsitic loss and 30 degress cooler air charge temps."

Funny how easy math is sometimes. :)
