Parts car has arrived.

Time to get to work ! Pictures ?

lol

Nothing to really take pics of. Just some prep work.

The parts car has LSC bumpers and moldings. :)

I've seriously considered taking the car along with the parts car and turning the project over to someone who has the time to work on it. I've got to eventually take it somewhere for the R&R of the quarter panel and paint anyways.

My day job owns me.

Setback...

Managed some time to work on the car trying to finish getting it ready for the paint shop. Got everything loosely bolted in place. The hood alignment was wacked and the formerly new custom 1 of 2 hood is likley done for as I noticed cracks along where the scoop was fabbed on. :(

Took some measurements diagonally after the hood was off and it appears the front end is twisted about 1" diagonally towards the passenger side. That probably means it's going to take some jacking at a body shop to get everything back in alignment.

I'll probably tidy everything up in the next couple weeks or so with the old hood and take it to a local shop and have the engine pulled in preparation for the new motor. Then hopefully it will be trailered off to a body shop for the 1/4 panel surgery, front panel alignment, LSC mouldings/bumper covers and paint.

Meanwhile the old motor will go to Fox Lake and the top end and accessories will go on the new shortblock being built. Once that's done the body work should be complete and the car will be ready to receive the fresh motor for break-in and tuning.

That's the plan for now anyways.

Awesome JP, not really a set back, its doing it right. Would be a good time to paint/clean the engine bay. :)

Cracks on the hood scoop are okay, they will just sand it down and respray it. I'm assuming you just wanted to put it together until you noticed it was ascue?

I didn't want it to go this far, but it is what it is. The engine compartment could use refreshing anyways, it shouldn't cost all that much more to clean and paint atop everything else.

The hood on the other hand is worse than I originally thought. Besides the damage on the front corner, it is cracked along the joint between the hood and scoop. I suppose I could have it looked at by the body shop.

The intent was to assemble the front end and swap the bumper covers for the LSC bumper covers. Then send the car away for the 1/4 panel R&R and paint. It was during this process that the extent of the misalignment was realized.

Oh well, just more time and money.

Test fit in progress...

I still have a bit of work to complete before it goes to a shop.

The donor car was Portofino Blue which is a good bit darker than the Nordic Blue.
