This is where I'm at now. All measuring and trimmming everything, plus fabbing brackets.. I'll have to "rework" some of the pipes that came with the kit, but it looks all straight forward after i get some mustang SVT fuel rails and braided lines before i switch over the fuel injectors to the bigger ones.
I already put new idler tensioner pulley and arm on. The old pulley had a siezed or galled bearing and you couldnt even turn it in your hand unless it was bolted to the block.http://

Where did you get a new bearing for the pulley?

Advanced auto is right down the street so i picked up both the arm assembly and pulley for cheap (comes as one piece, not separate bearing). They had them in stock and i was surprised.
I was freakin out cause i swore that the cam tensioner gears were vibrating when it was that pulley. The noise must of been traveling up into valvecover area where i was listening to.
New one spins freely with no play and old one is all blued like my sportbike muffler and insides melted. Was like that for Atlanta. That was the last time i had it running hard besides doing burnouts on backroad here.

Finally something different ;)

You can use 2nd gen rails on a 99+ intake after few mods . Save you time and money maybe ...

Sweet! Keep us updated!

Thanks guys,
Well, i hit the first roadblock, but it shouldnt be too hard to fix.
Seems that after i started "loose bolting" everything together for fitment, the bracket was way out of sync and i was missing hardware.
Turns out that they had two different kits after poking my nose back into the directions. lol
They have a 2001 bracket ABO18A-006 and hardware bag with two studs that i got, along with belt ATIpart# DB1081-006 (2001) or GATES#K061080 (wrong ones).
And they also have a 1999 bracket ABO18A-005 and hardware packet with three studs, and belt DB1401-006 or GATES belt K061140 (1999).... I need the latter.

So untill i contact Texas Hotrods Mustang site that i ordered the kit from to hopefully switch out brackets and hardware bags, ill just do some cleaning and repainting after cleaning up surface rust from radiator support bracket. Should keep me busy for a bit.

Yep, id love to go with those and COP setup, but too much changing EEC systems. The setup i got now is working good. I'll stick with it for a while. I like having the 4 bank switchchip from Lonnie with the ability to go to soft mode quickshift to sneak around town and on base MPH when cops are watching instead of long drawn out high RPM shifts and everyone looking. Ill either be going with Steeda rails or the ones from the ebay site that are anodized red or blue. Whichever is cheaper. Then ill order a bunch of AN fittings from summitt and go to town making the return loop instead of the C shape im running now. Its not really a true roundabout to the return line now, but will be after im done. Plus add a adjustable pressure regulator and psi gauge on one of the T fittings.

I had a similar problem with my Vortech bracket. I now have a 99 Vortech Cobra kit with a 98 bracket.

Are you going to try and be ready by SSHS7? Check out the web site http://www.sshs7.com/

Look under "Sponsors, Links, & Friends" - they used your picture doing a burn out on the page! :)

BTW, I think Marvin is up to something getting ready for SSHS7, and is keeping quiet. You need to go over to his house and do some reconnaissance, and give me the full report lol :)

haha

haha

Yep if all goes well i'll be at sshs. I'll check out the site when i get home from work. Yes....he has been quiet hasn't he? I'll give him a ring and pop over there for a beer. (painting camo face, putting backpack on, flipping down nightvision goggles.) lol :D

While your waiting and you have your Facia and inner fender well open you might want to consider a line loc set up.

I always told you guys you need 96-99 blower kit for these cars, never an 01. In 01 ford went to this stupid 1 bolt tensioner, which is even worse than the 3 bolt alu one. While you're have the stuff off, upgrade to steel tensioner to avoid dreaded belt schredding on centri setup. That goes to both of you, Mike and Jeff.

Oh, and swapping to COPs or 2nd gen rails doesn't require any ECU work at all

Thanks for the tip, Jeremi :) Aric has already replaced my tensioner. He told me my stock one was junk. I do not know what he replaced it with, but I will make sure it is a steel one.

If you can IM me about the COP swap over i will buy the harness and cop units to do it. Engine would be alot cleaner i think whithout all the wiring going to front mounted coils. Im running the Mark VIII ignition coil pack program just tweaked out a little on an SCT chip. I would need to have it reflashed to work the COPs? THen i could loose those front two brackets, coil packs and wiring for the plugs. That would be sweet.

haha now he tells me.
I need to put you in my cell to give a quick ring before i buy stuff. What vehicle did the steel tensioner come on? To order that one. Or is it just a different name brand like MOOG upgrade OEM parts for GM's. Or maybee a thunderbird part number so we can get it on the cheap?. :)
Thanks.

As Per Jeremi.....You can use your stock wiring harness, you just need to get the proper connectors for the COPs.

"This is simpler that you think. You don't need to swap any control modules.

Find the trigger signals for the coil pairs at the old coil packs (should be 1-6, 3-5, 4-7, 2-8).
Also locate a +12v power supply at the same location (there will be two but you can do with just one).
Now you will do this in pairs.
First run +12v to coil 1 (+) terminal.
Then run a wire from coil 1 (-) terminal to coil 6 (+) terminal.
Finally run a wire from coil 6 (-) terminal to trigger one you found earlier that corresponds to coils 1&6.

Repeat this for the remaining pairs (3-5, 4-7, 2-8).
Keep using the same +12v source or use one for each bank.
I don't have the wire colors but any 1st gen manual will have these.

...or you could go and buy a 2nd gen ... "

Thanks for the info. Im going shopping around at parts places now. I didnt know it wasnt that involved. Figured id have to convert to a second gen. Nope, ill keep the 1st gen. We all know there faster. lol Thanks man, ill look into this now before i wrap up the wires into new harnesses again. I might have to IM for more info, once i get the project underway. Thanks.
