I wish I could forget about most of the stuff on this car ;)

The push-in adapter is not seating in properly anymore and the replacement tray didn't come with one, so it's on the junk yard shopping list for this weekend.

Did you get some sort of tubing bender to do exhaust work at your place? Its looking great! You thought Gary's car was bad, it looks like Mikes had just as many hacks done to it.

Did the fresh ground strap and cleaned MAF help? I know on Gary's 93 the MAF sensor wires were terribly dirty. It seemed to run better overall when I cleaned it up.

Enjoy Mike, you have one of the best guys around working on your car.

The exhaust piping is stock. Tubing bender ... no, not that I'd want one anyway. I'd use mandrels before anything else anyway.

The MAF wires were clean, but the Airbox had some oily substance on the bottom of it (most likely spilled trans fluid or alike).

The ground strap helped tremendously. The car runs and drives like it should now.
I would suggest replacing this very ground strap on every 15 year old Mark VIII.

same thing happened to me witht hat ground strap. My corrosion pioint was right in the middle of the rubber coating so I could not see it at all. Found it by accident.

Never heard of this until this thread and Doug's thread! Now I need to get mine checked!

+1!!

Hmm, I was curious about that strap; I just double-checked my fender well there and there is nothing attached there. Not even evidence there once was one. I can see the screw hole and the horizontal slot for the tab of the ring connector, but nothing around...

So if I add one, that adds like +20 horsepowers, right? :D

I believe that on a Gen 1 that strap attaches to the frame inside the rail instead of on the outside as it does on a Gen 2. At least the Gen 1 that I'm working on was connected that way.

I don't seem down on power so that may be right. It is still odd, though, that the mounting point is there and not used. But then this is also a '96 with the plastic strut assemblies so I guess anything is possible...Anyways, moving on...! :D

From what I've seen in the past, 93 and some 94 have that strap attached to the bottom or side of the rail as Doug suggested. 95 and up should be mounted as pictured above though.

Strong main ground will most likely make up for it on a stock car, but I wouldn't chance it anyway.

FYI, The plastic shock assemblies were introduced in 96, so there is nothing unique about what you found. They're still a bit different that 97-98, but changes are minimal.

Kicking this car's azz one problem at a time ... :D

Emission tray finally replaced. Much better

Then I did some digging around to find out what's causing somewhat of a weak upper RPM pull at WOT only, not at partial even 3/4 throttle.
I yanked on the passenger's side wheel well ground strap, and it fell apart in my hands (Thanks to Doug's post in the WTB section ;))
Of course, the motor mount stud came out in one piece with the nut still attached.
Some heat, clean up, new wire with soldered loops, back together in no time.
I also found the MAF to be in sad shape, so replaced it with a clean used unit.

Mike will need tires sooner than later
Hmm. I was thinking that it was a fuel problem on my car, but I know this strap is missing on my car. Seems like I'll have fix this.

I just want to say that this car drives amazing still. It is now closing on 3 years since he did the work to it. It drives like brand new every time I drive it. I mean I only drive it on weekends that I am off and its not raining but I beat the **** out of it and it never stops. I have not done anything to it other than maintenance and the tires Jeremi begged me to buy. I have to say this is some of the best money I ever spent and the work is impeccable and I recommend anyone and everyone send their car to him to get work done.

What tires did you go with?
